AmeriCorps VISTA Program at ACC

AmeriCorps is the federal agency connecting individuals and organizations through service and volunteering to tackle the nation’s most pressing challenges. As a member of the VISTA program, you serve full-time for one year. You will build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at the local level, and empower individuals and communities.

The AmeriCorps VISTA program at ACC provides individuals with valuable professional development experience and serves as a strong pathway into the nonprofit and refugee resettlement sectors. We are currently seeking applicants for three AmeriCorps VISTA positions.

Housing Access VISTA

As the Housing Access VISTA, you will help ACC improve and expand our housing portfolio so that we may offer safe and affordable housing to Denver’s newest refugee residents. Working closely with our resettlement and development teams, you will familiarize yourself with our current housing portfolio, while expanding and increasing the portfolio by using your outreach skills creatively. This may include creating marketing materials on behalf of ACC, speaking to groups as to why housing refugees is a viable option, and researching yet-untapped housing sources. Your work will have a lasting impact on ACC and its clients, creating long-term relationships that support affordable housing for all!

Partnership Development VISTA

As the Partnership Development VISTA, you will help ACC strengthen relationships with corporate partners to support refugee employment and housing stability. Working closely with the Development Manager, you will research and identify new corporate partnerships, develop strategies for engaging businesses as donors and employers, and create frameworks for corporate volunteerism and support. You will build connections that increase ACC’s capacity to fund and expand vital programs, such as the Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

Additionally, you will work on establishing employment pipelines for refugees by partnering with businesses to provide job opportunities. Your efforts will directly impact the sustainability of ACC’s programs, enhance employment outcomes for refugees, and foster long-term community support. This role will provide a meaningful opportunity to create lasting change while developing valuable skills in partnership development and nonprofit management.

Employment Access VISTA

As the Employment Access VISTA, you will support ACC by enhancing employment access for all working-age refugees. You will focus on improving employment services by identifying gaps, researching solutions, implementing program improvements, and developing partnerships The strategies and partnerships that you build will directly assist refugees in overcoming employment obstacles, such as language barriers, overseas qualifications that don’t transfer to the US, and lack of familiarity with how to gain employment in this country.

Additionally, you will create systems to track progress and measure the success of these initiatives, while also training staff to ensure long-term sustainability. Your efforts will directly contribute to expanding employment opportunities for refugees, fostering their self-sufficiency and integration into the workforce. You will create a body of work you can be proud of and that you know will make an impact!
